Through our industry partnerships and ability to work collaboratively across the UK, we are able to consider our actions introduce more environmentally friendly ways of working.


Through working with our customers and global manufacturers we have given great consideration to how we can reduce single use plastic in our product packaging. Through this development we have been able to introduce improvements to our own brand Initiative range and have developed our own “Go-Green” branding to allow easy identification.
For example, Initiative Highlighters with 4 and 6 Assorted highlighters, are traditionally in plastic wallets will now be replaced with cardboard boxes.
Initiative Repositionable Notes will no longer be film wrapped and have been replaced with boxes, where possible.
At a more local level, we have introduced a full re-use and recycle approach to our packaging and will collect all waste materials from our customers to increase re-use and remove any need for landfill.
Office Essentials is committed to environmental improvements and aim to:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislative and regulatory requirements
- Utilise recycling opportunities for all applicable wastes through segregation of waste and appropriate collection schemes
- Be environmentally considerate when selecting printing products and whenever possible, utilise renewable sources
- Source products and services locally whenever possible
- Minimise the use of natural resources by implementing water and energy efficiency measures
- Prevent pollution from all aspects of company activities, especially through appropriate handling of wastes and the understanding of our site drainage.
We are ISO14001 accredited through the implementation and independent validation of an effective Environmental Management System (EMS).

Our aim is to make those relationships positive by working with suppliers, colleagues and customers who have high standards and share our values. Our approach to Sustainable Procurement is aligned to ISO 20400 and sets out some basic principles of how we conduct business in an open, honest and transparent manner, along with behaviours and practices we expect of our suppliers. With collaboration, we enhance our practices and build a business with relationships to be proud of, guided by good governance.
In developing our approach, we have considered our stakeholders and legislation, which links to the principles of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. We expect our suppliers to conduct their relationship with us and any of our clients, partners and other suppliers on a fair and ethical basis and in compliance with core principles of sustainability.
